At Vreta Kloster Brewery Taproom, we offer food and drinks in a unique setting just a stone’s throw from the Göta Canal and the Berg Locks. We also offer a range of activities:

• Brewery tours
• Beer tastings
• Live music

Starting June 1, 2025, in connection with a brewery tour or beer tasting, you can purchase up to 3 liters of our strong beer to take home – known as farm sales. You can also buy beer glasses, t-shirts, and much more.

One of Sweden’s most internationally awarded breweries

The brewery is located in the parish of Vreta Kloster, only 800 meters from the ruins of Sweden’s oldest monastery – Vreta Abbey. The monastery was active from 1101 to 1582. Here, the nuns brewed and drank beer. Today, beer is brewed in Belgian style, several of which have won medals in Europe’s largest and most prestigious beer competitions.

Summer Brewery Tours

During our summer opening hours, you can book a brewery tour at 3:00 PM or 4:00 PM. The tour lasts about 30–40 minutes and is held in Swedish and English.

After the tour, you are welcome to sit down in our taproom for a bite to eat and to try our beer. You can also purchase up to 3 liters of strong beer to take home. The tour is included in the price. Food, drinks, and beer are purchased on-site.

Brewery Tours with Beer Tastings – September to May

Throughout the year, we also arrange brewery tours with beer tastings. During these 1.5-hour sessions, you get to sample 7 of our beers along with light snacks, guided by our knowledgeable staff. Dates are continuously updated. Minimum age: 18 years.

Live Performances

We host live music events regularly throughout the year. Some are free to attend, while others require advance tickets. All concerts are listed on our events page, where you can also purchase tickets when needed.

In the summer, admission is always free except on June 28 and August 9.

Opening hours may be extended during live events.

Please note that admission requires a pre-purchased ticket on June 28 (Staffan Hellstrand concert) and August 9 (Festum Vretensis – Linköping’s new music, culture, and beer festival).

Location

Vreta Kloster Brewery is located 2 km from the Berg Locks – a 25-minute walk or 7-minute bike ride. Part of the route follows the Göta Canal.
