Exhibition at Mallboden museum in Motala: How to build a canal
The exhibition shows how Baltzar von Platen worked from the idea to build a waterway across Sweden to the opening at the beginning of the 19th century.
Product description
The Göta canal exhibition From idea to reality in Motala is located in one of the two pavilions next to the canal in the Old Motala Workshop area, between Borenshult's locks and the Motala guest harbor in Vättern. By boat, you can reach the exhibition easily from the small guest harbor in Motala Verkstad.
The exhibition shows how Baltzar von Platen took the 300-year-old idea of building a waterway across Sweden and realized it by building the Göta Canal. Here you get to meet the people who made it possible to build the canal and the technology they used.
The entrance is included in the canal fee for leisure boats, and you can access the exhibition with the Service Card.
For other visitors, entrance tickets can be booked here and should be presented at Café Mallboden, located just next door.
