Glamping – glamorous camping
In early summer 2024, travel blogger Annika Myhre (Resfredag) visited the Göta Canal with a group of girlfriends, for three lovely days of cycling. They spent one night in one of the many glamping tents found along the canal.
The Sörby Gård glamping area is run by Karin Sandstedt, who recently returned to her Östergötland roots after many years abroad. An adventurous architect and entrepreneur, she has spent her years travelling the world, collecting both ideas and items to build her own little paradise by the Göta Canal. In her yard you will find eight spaciously snug glamping tents, each with a unique theme. The newly made beds inside the glamping tents are comfortable, and the interiors have been selected by Karin, with careful attention to every detail.
In addition to glamping tents, bivouacs are available for hire – these are small, triangular wooden huts. The bivouacs, like the glamping tents, each have their own theme, found in both their interiors and general atmosphere – for instance, you can step inside a tiny, Japanese oasis, surrounded by the greenery next to the Göta Canal.
A number of toilets and showers are available by the campsite, and in the morning we were served a generous breakfast from the Bostället wood oven bakery. After a good night’s sleep, we were then ready to hop on our bicycles again – ready for our next adventure along the Göta Canal.
